Fort Belvoir WIT Barracks

144 LEED® Gold Units of Barracks for Soldiers Recovering from War Injuries

The Fort Belvoir Warriors in Transition Barracks consists of two wood-framed barracks and a surrounding campus. This 240,000-square-foot LEED® Gold facility provides lodging for soldiers who have been released from medical care and are in recovery for further evaluations. Each building includes 72 two-bedroom, two-bathroom units for a total of 144 units and a capacity of 288 beds. The design/build project includes features such as slab-on-grade concrete, wood framing, standing seam metal roof, brick exterior, hydraulic elevators, water-source heat pumps and cooling towers.
