319-Unit, LEED® Platinum Mixed-Use Community with Amenities

Trellis House is a 319-unit, seven-story mixed-use community located in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC. On the edge of Howard University's campus, Trellis House includes 11,000 square feet of retail, direct-entry units, and a two-level below-grade parking garage with 139 spaces. The community also features an elevated interior courtyard with pool and grill area, vegetative green roof, and hydroponic room on the sky terrace. A large clubhouse offers residents several amenity areas including a fitness studio, yoga room, clubroom, and business center. Trellis House's exterior features a blend of cast stone, composite metal panels, Nichiha panels, storefront, curtainwall, and fiber cement siding.

Building Green at Trellis House
As the first multifamily housing project to achieve LEED® Platinum in D.C., Trellis House incorporates a number of sustainable elements including a vegetative green roof and non-absorptive hardscape materials; EnergyStar® light fixtures in all units; low-VOC paints, adhesives, mastics, and glue; low-flow plumbing fixtures; and a bioretention system in the interior courtyard. CBG also utilized a construction waste diversion plan, protected ducts from dust and dirt intrusion, and introduced fresh air into each unit as part of the construction indoor air quality plan. Trellis House is engineered to use 30 percent less water and save over 21 percent more energy than the baseline building. The community encourages green transportation via its proximity to the Shaw-Howard Metro station alongside an offering of bike racks and a bike repair station on-site.
