Wounded Warrior Home Project

CBG built the Freedom and Patriot homes at Fort Belvoir to surpass ADA requirements, responding to the unique physical and emotional needs of our nation's wounded warriors. The homes' purposeful and adaptable design features include window and door status sensors, adjustable height countertops, and video monitoring systems. Wide hallways allow for a full 360-degree turning radius for wheelchair users, while room-by-room thermostat controls support temperature regulation. Even the trim, finishes, and door kick plates are designed to withstand the impact of wheelchairs, prosthetics, and the frequent relocation common among military families. These concept homes serve as prototypes for human-centered design to better accommodate all people with disabilities.
