Varsity on K

Varsity on K is a 197-unit, 214-bed renovated student housing community located on George Washington University's campus near the Foggy Bottom Metro station. Originally built in 1986 as a hotel, the 12-story post-tension concrete community sits atop a two-level underground parking garage. The community's amenities include a landscaped courtyard terrace, fitness center with yoga and cycling studios, study rooms, and an entertainment room with a full kitchen. To improve the project's amenities, modern finishes were incorporated into the newly reconfigured common spaces. The apartments feature high-end finishes like granite and quartz countertops, ceramic tile in the bathrooms, EnergyStar® appliances, and premium vinyl tile and carpeted flooring. The team reconfigured the existing unit layouts to provide generously-sized bedrooms and create an open layout between the kitchen and living room. Transforming a dated 1985 dormitory into a contemporary 197-unit student housing community in under seven months, the team at Varsity on K replaced and repaired the building's core MEP systems, including the HVAC, elevator, security, sprinkler, and alarm systems; removed the original telephone system; and installed WiFi throughout.
