Varsity at College Park, Masonvale, and MacDill Family Housing Recognized in Pillars Awards
WASHINGTON—Yesterday the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recognized three Clark projects with Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards in an online ceremony. The Varsity at College Park and Masonvale faculty and staff housing, both constructed by Clark Builders Group, took home top honors, as did MacDill Family Housing, a 50-year joint venture between Clark Realty Capital and the Air Force. These three wins mark Clark's seventh consecutive year to receive one or more Pillars Awards.

Pillars judges praised the Varsity at College Park, recipient of the award for Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community, commenting that "The project has most of the features you'd expect, but each one is done so well that the end result is a terrific community." Judges also complimented the design of the individual units, the project's vibrant common areas, and "great curb appeal."
Located in College Park, Maryland, the Varsity addresses the University of Maryland's critical shortage of quality student housing. The six-story community features 258 fully furnished rental apartments with high-end finishes, luxurious common areas, ground-floor retail and restaurant options, and a pedestrian bridge to campus.
"Recognition from the NAHB Pillars Awards is a tribute to our thoughtful approach in constructing successful, high-quality communities such as the Varsity," said Keith Anderson, president of Clark Builders Group. "We are grateful for each Pillars recognition that Clark Builders Group and Clark Realty Capital have received this year."
NAHB presented Masonvale with the 2012 Pillars Award for Best Workforce Housing. Located adjacent to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, Masonvale provides quality housing to university faculty and students at lower-than-market costs. Beautiful, distinct neighborhoods featuring colonial and craftsman architectural styles offer a range of unit types in a village-like setting connected to the natural landscape.
MacDill Family Housing received NAHB's Pillars Award for Best Multifamily Community Site Plan. Located on MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, the development's neighborhoods feature abundant shared amenities and exemplify a mix of housing types and sizes based on military rank. The site plan encourages pedestrianism and fosters community among its deserving military residents.
The Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards program highlights innovative development and financing, great design, and superior management and marketing in the apartment and condo marketplace. In July, NAHB recognized two other Clark multifamily projects as Pillars Finalists. The Flats at Atlas in Washington, DC was a Finalist in for Best Overall Leasing Campaign for a Rental Apartment Community, and Del Ray Central apartments of Alexandria, Virginia were recognized in the Best Rental Apartment Community (Non-Garden, 5 Stories or Less) category.
