Luxury Apartment Community Opens to University of Maryland Students

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — On Monday, Clark Builders Group (CBG) completed the Varsity at College Park, a mixed-use development at the University of Maryland consisting of 901 beds of student housing in 258 luxury apartments, with an additional 19,000 square feet of prime retail space. CBG was also awarded a second Varsity student housing project contract with owner CS Potomac Associates at the University of Baltimore (UB). The Varsity at UB is expected to reach completion in July 2012.

The Varsity at College Park is a privatized student community of over 401,000 square feet, accommodating University of Maryland (UMD) students in high quality apartments ranging from one- to four-bedrooms with private bathrooms. All apartments are complete with luxury kitchens and spacious living areas. In addition to housing, the complex offers a variety of state-of-the-art amenities, including a two-story fitness center, high-tech game rooms, a private covered parking deck, and a lush outdoor courtyard space.

CBG broke ground on the project in September 2010 and achieved a timely completion date in advance of UMD's Fall 2011 semester. The development's first floor retail space is currently under construction. When complete and occupied in late November 2011, the retail space is expected to bring even more convenience to tenants and College Park locals.

CS Potomac Associates, LLC selected CBG as the general contractor of this $42 million apartment project in July 2010. The Varsity has not only brought better quality housing to students, but the complex is also an important step toward improving the overall appearance of the Route 1 corridor. Seated directly off of this major road, the Varsity is ideally located directly adjacent to the University of Maryland main campus entrance.
