CRC CARES Hosts Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit San Diego Charities
SAN DIEGO—Last week, CBG Building Company (CBG), CRC Companies (CRC), and Clark Construction hosted the eleventh annual CRC CARES charity golf tournament at Maderas Golf Club. With 228 golfers in attendance, the two-day event raised $303,000 to benefit several charitable organizations that proudly serve the San Diego community.

In celebration of Veteran's Day, CRC CARES presented a donation to Homefront San Diego. An all-volunteer organization, Homefront San Diego provides a hand-up to military families in their time of need.
"Every penny Homefront receives assists military families with emergency needs including car repairs, baby cribs and car seats, medical bills, and food," said Mary Ann Tanner, special events volunteer with Homefront San Diego. "With the holidays upon us, this generous donation will allow us to help military families with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner and also purchase toys for their children."
Another tournament beneficiary was Bridge of Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to providing furniture, clothing, and food to underprivileged families facing crises such as domestic violence and homelessness. Recipient Dreams for Change also battles homelessness at the local level, providing families and individuals living in their cars with a safe environment where they can rest, access resources, and work toward stabilization.
"We would like to thank CRC CARES for their generous grant for our Safe Parking Program," said Teresa Smith, CEO and cofounder of Dreams for Change. "This gift will help us end homelessness for over 125 families, right here in San Diego. It is great to know we have such wonderful advocates who understand the needs and challenges our community faces."
Through the amazing generosity of industry partners, CRC CARES has raised nearly $3 million to date in San Diego alone. More than 90 charities throughout the southern California region have benefited from the tournament funds since the inaugural event in 2005.
"I am amazed at how this event has grown, which has allowed us to provide well-deserving charities the financial support to continue their mission," said Jim Forburger, senior vice president of CBG. "The event is one that I am very proud of. It is truly my favorite time of the year."
Proceeds from this year's event were made possible by 88 corporate sponsors, many of whom return year after year. On both evenings of the event, the tournament included a dinner and awards reception at the Del Lago Ballroom of Maderas Golf Club. Reception highlights included a raffle, the announcement of tournament winners, and a formal donation presentation to the charitable recipients.
