Clark Realty Builders Wins Constructech Vision Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

CHICAGO — Clark Realty Builders was recently honored with its fourth-consecutive Gold Vision Award from Constructech Magazine at its annual award ceremony held at Phil Stefani's Italian Restaurant in Chicago, IL. The recognition highlights Clark Realty Builder's talented employees and underscores the company's dedication to optimized performance, innovative problem solving, and long-term solutions through the use of technology.

The annual Constructech awards recognize construction industry leaders utilizing technology in innovative ways to solve problems, improve competitiveness, or create a better working environment for employees. The award entries were evaluated based on the individual merits of the technology solutions and on the success, innovation, and benefits of their implementation. Constructech enrolled an independent panel of research experts in construction, architecture, and technology to choose the Vision Award winners.

Clark Realty Builders won gold in the Multifamily Builder category, recognizing the success of three major technology programs developed and executed in the past 12 months. The programs that merited recognition include the implementation of a wireless broadband network for a widely spread military community, development of on-site punch-list management system for existing handheld devices, and an optimized solution for material tracking.

Constructech was impressed with Clark Realty Builder's creativity in overcoming a major wireless networking obstacle for the U.S. Army and Navy's housing at Monterey Bay, California. An essential part of rebuilding these Navy training and education facility was to provide broadband access for residents at the newly constructed homes - as well as the existing homes, which are slated for demolition throughout an ten-year construction plan. Not only was a wireless solution required, but one that could securely link the widely spread homes of the base. Clark worked with Verizon Avenue and Alvarion to implement the cutting-edge WiMax broadband standard, which allows for connections as distant as six miles, to distribute the broadband access from the Verizon DS3 access site to multiple local access points located around the Monterey Bay housing area.

"Broadband Internet access is critical to the educational mission here at Monterey," said Patrick Kelly, Director of the Army's Residential Communities Initiative, "That Clark was able to create a long-range solution, given the obstacles involved, speaks to the ingenuity of the people we have at the company."

Clark Realty Builders' celebrated achievements of 2005 also included the implementation of on-site punch-list management software for existing Blackberry handheld devices and the replacement of an obsolete material tracking system with a Prolog solution.
