"Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is a top priority for our firm," said Andy Mest, preconstruction executive with Clark Realty Builders. "Working with a partner like Habitat for Humanity, who has a long-standing reputation of improving the lives of local families, enables us to further live up to that goal."

Construction at Linganore Woods, located near Silver Spruce Drive off Wexhall Drive, began in July. The first set of 12 townhomes is scheduled for a summer 2007 completion; the final set of townhomes should be finished in 2008. The 24-townhome community is the largest project in the history of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Md. and will more than double the number of homes the group has built since it's inception in 1982.

Clark Realty Builders has been working with Habitat over the last year to help coordinate construction efforts and has been instrumental in engaging numerous other vendors and partners in donating goods and services to the project. Donations secured by CRB include material contributions from both national and local vendors, including Shaw Industries, Duron Paints and Wallcoverings, Monumental Millwork, Loundoun Stairs, Mid-South Building Supply, Capitol Building Supply, MI Windows and Doors, Smitty's Building Supply, Trussway, DuPont Tyvek Home Wrap, Life-Time Pre-Formed Millwork, Speciality Screen and Window, and Moen. Total donations for the first twelve homes is expected to reach half a million dollars.

"We are pleased to have Clark Realty Builders as a partner on this project," said Jeff Nettnin, construction manager for Habitat For Humanity, Montgomery County. "Their reputation for always going above and beyond what is asked of them has been evident on this project as they worked diligently to gather donations of both materials and volunteer labor."

The three-story townhomes being built at Linganore Woods will cost about $3 million. The market rate for each townhouse is about $300,000, but families selected for these homes will have a mortgage of only $140,000, payable in monthly interest-free installments. Donations like the ones secured by CRB, in addition to a construction crew largely comprised of Habitat volunteers and the families who will live in the new community, help make this program feasible.
