Clark Realty Builders Nears Early Completion for Columbia Town Center
COLUMBIA, Md.—Clark Realty Builders (CRB)* is nearing early completion for Columbia Town Center, a new 531-unit apartment development in Columbia, Maryland, a desirable Baltimore/Washington/Annapolis suburb in Howard County. CRB is constructing the project for Archstone/Smith Communities, a national Real Estate Investment Trust. Including projects under construction, Clark Realty Builders has now worked with Archstone on more than 1,300 multifamily homes in Virginia and Maryland.

With a unique design by Kaufman Meeks & Partners of Houston, Columbia Town Center divides its 14 apartment buildings into two main clusters, each wrapped around a multiple-story, pre-cast parking garage. The wood-frame residential buildings are four stories each and feature pedestrian bridges on every floor connecting corresponding living and parking levels. These bridges provide residents the convenience of both parking and collecting their mail on their living levels.
Columbia Town Center is located on a 12-acre terraced site featuring numerous brick garden walls and elaborate landscaping to create a lush outdoor environment. The gated community also offers a luxury clubhouse with a resort-style outdoor pool, cardio fitness center with Broadvision, business center, and other recreational amenities. Individual apartments feature high-speed Internet access, nine-foot ceilings with crown molding, and optional gas fireplaces. Residents choose from eleven different floor plans, all with white on white kitchens and 42-inch wall cabinets. Clark Realty Builders began work on the site in May, 2000. The first garage and residential building were substantially complete on July 17, 2001, with the first residents moving in that day. The balance of the building framing topped out in mid-December.
