Clark CARES Sponsors Local Charity Golf Tournament
FORT BELVOIR, Va. —Yesterday, Clark Realty Capital and Clark Builders Group hosted the sixth annual Clark CARES Open at Fort Belvoir. The day-long golf tournament attracted 200 golfers and over 50 corporate sponsors to raise a total of $148,000. Clark CARES, a public charity that promotes volunteerism and provides grants to deserving non-profit organizations, presented the tournament proceeds to the Fort Belvoir Soldier and Family Assistance Center, as well as four local schools attended by children of Fort Belvoir Service Members.

The Soldier and Family Assistance Center is a one-stop location that provides services tailored and responsive to the unique needs of Warriors in Transition and their Families," said Colonel Jerry L. Blixt, Fort Belvoir Installation Commander. "Partnerships with civic minded organizations such as yours enrich the Fort Belvoir community and enhance our ability to thrive and grow as a strong community."
The schools benefiting from the tournament include Fort Belvoir Elementary School, Whitman Middle School, Mount Vernon High School, and Woodlawn Elementary School.
"With this generous donation from Clark CARES, we will purchase SMART Boards for classrooms," said Stephanie Bisson, principal of Woodlawn Elementary School. "The boards allow the students to respond interactively to online learning opportunities, so more learning takes place."
The Clark CARES tournaments at Fort Belvoir have contributed over $450,000 to the local community since the event's establishment six years ago. Recipients from past tournaments have included the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Fort Belvoir Youth Sports, the Fort Belvoir Chaplain Family Life Center, Audubon Society of Northern Virginia, and Operation Homefront.
"We are extremely appreciative for the continued generosity of our tournament benefactors during a time when many companies are cutting back," said Casey Nolan, development executive at Clark Realty Capital. "Our Service Members and the children of the Fort Belvoir community will directly benefit from this generous support."
After the tournament, players attended a dinner reception held in the Fort Belvoir Golf Clubhouse. The reception began with the official donation presentation to this year's charitable organizations followed by the announcement of the tournament winners.
