Clark CARES Sponsors Inaugural Event at Fort Belvoir
FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Clark Realty and Pinnacle hosted the first annual Clark CARES Open at Fort Belvoir Golf Club the afternoon of Thursday, September 20. Over 70 corporations sponsored the event, which featured over 200 golfers and raised a total of over $150,000. This tournament marked the first event sponsored by the Clark CARES Foundation, a newly created charity that provides grants to worthy non-profit organizations across the country.

"We are thrilled with the success of this year's tournament," said Christina DeGroote, of Clark CARES. "As our inaugural event, the Clark CARES Open will set a standard of excellence for all of the foundation's future charitable endeavors."
The tournament, previously known as the Clark Pinnacle Charity Golf Classic, has raised over $500,000 for charitable organizations since its inception three years ago. Past recipients have included the Fort Belvoir Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Belvoir Youth Sports, Army Emergency Relief, United Services Organization (USO), the Fort Belvoir Chaplain Family Life Center, and the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund.
This year, Fort Belvoir residents participated in the selection of the recipient organizations by filling out nomination forms available at key locations on post. Several organizations from the Fort Belvoir installation, including the Fort Belvoir Boy Scout Troop & Fort Belvoir Girl Scout Troop, Fort Belvoir Youth Sports, Fort Belvoir Chaplain Family Life Center, Fort Belvoir Elementary School, and the American Red Cross (Fort Belvoir Chapter), received grants. Other recipients included the Audubon Society of Northern Virginia, National Military Family Association, and Operation Homefront.

After the tournament, players attended a dinner reception in honor of the 2007 Clark CARES Open beneficiaries. The reception, held in the Fort Belvoir Golf Clubhouse, featured a raffle and concluded with an announcement of the tournament winners.
