Clark CARES Achieves Fundraising Success in Today’s Economy
SAN DIEGO — Last week, Clark Builders Group, Clark Realty Capital, and Clark Construction hosted the fifth annual Clark CARES golf tournament at Maderas Golf Club. Despite the challenging economic times, over 240 golfers came together for the two-day fundraising event. Proceeds totaling more than $312,000, given on behalf of the public charity Clark CARES, benefited several nonprofit and military groups, including the Naval Special Warfare Foundation (NSWF), an organization that proudly honors and serves Navy SEAL heroes and their families.

"NSWF is honored to be a 2009 Clark CARES beneficiary," said Kelly McGraw, director of development and public relations of NSWF. "The contribution from Clark CARES will help NSWF further our mission to support the Navy SEAL community by funding programs such as stress relief for the families of deployed service members, computers for children who have lost their fathers in a combat or training-related incident, and support for families with special needs."
Other recipients included the ACE Mentor Program, Family Recovery Center, United Warrior Survivor Foundation, and the SDSU Student Veterans House, a project of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Troops to College program that provides continuous support to veterans as they strive for their education goals.
Contributions were made possible by over 75 southern California corporate sponsorships. Many of these sponsoring companies return year after year in support of Clark CARES.
"It was a classy tournament run by a classy company for worthy and honorable charities," said Terry Rusnak, Sr., former president of RBE and sponsor of Clark CARES since the tournament's inception in 2005. "We were truly delighted to be involved and only wish that we could have done more."
"There are industry partners that are struggling in this down economy but will go above and beyond in support of a great cause," said Jim Forburger, senior vice president of Clark Builders Group. "Our community is in need of support more than ever, and we are truly grateful for their generosity."
The event sponsors held a dinner and awards reception both evenings of the tournament at Maderas Golf Club's Del Lago Ballroom. Reception highlights included the announcement of tournament winners and the formal donation presentation to charitable recipients.
