CHICAGO — At its annual Vision Awards ceremony on Thursday, August 19, Constructech magazine honored Clark Builders Group (CBG) with a 2010 Gold Vision Award for its collaborative effort with Solarwinds, Inc. to employ the Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) across the company. The Constructech Vision Awards competition promotes excellence in technological leadership, honoring construction-based companies that implement modern technologies to solve critical issues in their everyday business processes.

CBG and Solarwinds' NPM received Constructech's highest honor, which marks the tenth consecutive year that Clark has won an award from the magazine.

"Clark Builders Group is clearly among a select group of visionary companies in the construction industry when it comes to using technology," said Mike Carrozzo, chief editor of Constructech magazine. "As any of our past participants will tell you, winning a Constructech Vision Award is no easy feat, given the discerning eye of our distinguished panel of industry judges. Bringing home its tenth Vision Award in 2010, Clark Builders Group has moved into a class all by itself, and this feat is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication of its team to stay on the cusp of innovation."

As a national multifamily builder, CBG supports network functions across multiple corporate offices, job sites, and home offices in various time zones. The Orion NPM provides a real-time view of the company's entire network, allowing CBG's IT department to detect issues in real time and be notified of potential network problems before they arise. The monitor logs all activity that IT deems important and instantly translates the results via a Web site or email alerts.

Since its installation, the IT team has reported an increase in CBG's total network uptime, application performance, application availability, and end-user confidence. The system also gives the company a road-map for planning its infrastructure future, ensuring that future network problems can be anticipated weeks or even years in advance.

"We are honored to be chosen for this prestigious award," said Les Okrasa, CBG's senior network administrator. "The Orion NPM has been essential for increasing the company's efficiency by resolving network problems, many times before they even reach the end user."

The Constructech Vision Awards recognizes both the construction companies that realize the importance of technological innovation, and the software and hardware manufacturers that facilitate the initiative's success. The judging process focuses on three main criteria: the problem or challenge faced by the company, the process used to overcome this challenge, and the final benefit achieved by the process.

The award is open to a wide range of organizations and industries, including residential and commercial construction, architecture and engineering, land development, and the government.

CBG's win this year marks the longest-running success by any company to enter the Constructech Vision Awards.
