CBG Hosts Edward M. Felegy Elementary at Local Jobsite

HYATTSVILLE, Md.—CBG Building Company is proud to announce its latest collaboration with Prince George’s County Public Schools’ Edward M. Felegy Elementary at The Six. An active jobsite located less than a mile from the school, The Six partnership underscores CBG’s ongoing efforts to support local community stewardship nationwide.

"This partnership with CBG is definitely a highlight of my teaching career," said Eileen Lengenfelder, STEM Teacher at Edward M. Felegy Elementary.

The Six project team provided STEM materials for the third-grade students to construct miniature tower cranes in class over the course of four weeks.CBG then welcomed students to the jobsite, where assistant project executive Josh Speakman presented insights into the building process and fielded audience questions. Finally, the team unveiled jobsite fence banners showcasing the students constructing their tower cranes and gifted them with STEM-themed toys to take home.

"Having the students visit the site was inspiring," said Speakman. "The kids were excited, enthusiastic, and overall curious about construction and what we’re currently building in their neighborhood. They had a surplus of questions and they even surprised us with how much they knew about construction."

CBG has worked with various DMV-area schools in recent years to beautify the immediate area in support of local teachers and students. CBG further supports local educational initiatives by conducting university seminars and project tours, judging school engineering competitions, employing student interns, and hosting active roles in nonprofit, student-serving industry and community organizations.

The Six is a 316-unit mixed-use community located in Hyattsville, MD. Scheduled for completion this October, it will offer more than 2,000 SF of retail space, an expansive amenity package with a two-level co-working, fitness, and lounge space, and access to the nearby Prince George’s Plaza Metro. In addition to partnering with Edward M. Felegy, in recent years CBG has collaborated with several other schools near its active jobsites, including Innovation Elementary, Barrett Elementary, Glebe Elementary, and Bethesda Montessori.
