CBG Building Company Breaks Ground on Maryland’s First Passive House® Community
Silver Spring, Md.—CBG Building Company celebrated the groundbreaking of Hillandale Gateway, a mixed-use development comprised of two 11-story concrete buildings with 463 market-rate and affordable units. Targeting LEED® Platinum, the community is designed to meet the criteria of several High Performance Building Design standards including EnergyStar®, Enterprise® Green Communities, and Passive House®. Together, these design and performance standards will pave the way toward net zero energy and a minimum carbon footprint impact while creating a healthy, resilient, sustainable, and vibrant community.

In partnership with the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC), The Duffie Companies, and PS Ventures, this groundbreaking marks the beginning of Maryland’s first Passive House community. A major step toward sustainable and energy-efficient housing, the event celebrated the collaboration and innovation behind Hillandale Gateway and welcomed dignitaries and community stakeholders.
