"This pioneering project represents our commitment to lifting the lives of those who serve our country by providing them with high-quality housing options that meet their unique needs," said Mark Morgan, CEO of The Michaels Organization. "Fort Irwin Apartments demonstrates our innovative approach to military housing, bringing modern amenities and living spaces to unaccompanied service members who deserve nothing less."

Located on approximately 37 acres on the former site of the Tiefort View housing community, the project will offer 552 beds in two-bedroom, two-bathroom layouts. Fort Irwin Apartments is designed to merge elements of upscale student and military housing, creating a resort-style living experience that prioritizes the well-being of the soldiers who call Fort Irwin home.

"We are proud to partner with The Michaels Organization on this landmark project," said Jim Forburger, senior vice president at CBG. "By integrating the best elements of modern apartment living with the unique needs of our service members, we are creating an enduring, sustainable community designed to feel like home."

Planned amenities include a centrally located community center, fitness facilities, outdoor gathering and recreational spaces such as a pool and lounges, and pedestrian-friendly pathways. The community prioritizes long-term durability by utilizing resilient, high-performance building materials engineered to withstand the rigorous desert climate. This focus on structural longevity, combined with EnergyStar® appliances and solar carports, ensures the project meets LEED® Silver standards while directly supporting the Army’s broader housing modernization goals.

In addition to Fort Irwin Apartments, CBG’s current military housing work includes Upper Kansa Townhomes in Frontier Heritage Communities, more than 100 historic renovations and the demolition and replacement of 48 townhomes for the Army in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Belvoir Young Village & Woodlawn II, 200 townhomes and 13 single-family homes for the Army in Fort Belvoir, Virginia; and Norton Commons, 112 townhomes for the Army in Fort Benning, Georgia. CBG is committed to delivering high-quality communities that support the well-being, resilience, and daily lives of service members across the country.
