The Parker

Located minutes from the Huntington Metro station in Alexandria, Virginia, The Parker is a five-story wood-framed building atop a slab on grade and an elevated slab over a portion of the first floor. Previously a dumping ground for poor soil, The Parker's site was unsuitable for building. During preconstruction, CBG researched and recommended a mix of foundational support options that kept overall project costs down while limiting the extent of undercut, saving time and money. CBG also increased the scope of the on-site mock-up to better coordinate waterproofing and finishes. To increase weatherproofing, the team used sheet-applied Henry Blueskin VP160 which has proven highly reliable. The project includes a 468-space precast garage and an exterior facade of brick, glass, metal panel, and fiber cement panels. The LEED®-certified community features two courtyards, a pool, virtual simulation room, bocce court, walking trail with outdoor fitness stations, and a club room.
