Located just minutes from the Huntington Metrorail station in Alexandria, Virginia, The Parker is a five-story, wood-framed apartment building atop slab-on-grade and an elevated slab over a portion of the first floor. The project includes a 468-space precast parking garage and boasts an exterior façade of brick, glass, metal panel, and fiber cement panels. The LEED® certified community features two courtyards, a pool, virtual simulation room, bocce court, walking trail with outdoor fitness stations, and a club room.
The Parker is a LEED® certified community. Located near a major Metrorail station and several bus lines, it features bicycle routes, bike storage, and walkways for energy-efficient transportation. This project consumes thirteen percent less energy than a conventional residential building, and incorporates an advanced HVAC system and efficient lighting, programmable digital thermostats, and EnergyStar® appliances to optimize performance. The Parker utilizes products free of formaldehyde and those that contain low- or no-VOC's. The project recycles more than seventy–five percent of construction waste and uses recycled and regionally manufactured materials during construction.
