Thayer & Spring Commemorates Topping Out

CBG Completes Vertical Construction of Silver Spring Apartment Community

SILVER SPRING, Md.—CBG Building Company celebrated the topping out today of Thayer & Spring, an 11-story, 399-unit mixed-use apartment community scheduled to open in mid-2019. The project team hosted representatives from owner Fairfield Residential and architect WDG, as well as more than 270 field staff and subcontractors who helped CBG complete vertical construction.

Beginning with an excavation reaching 50 feet deep, Thayer & Spring consists of 29,500 cubic yards of structural concrete and over 4 million pounds of steel. To celebrate the project's topping out, CBG catered lunch, passed out t-shirts, and held a raffle for attendees.

"Our project team and subcontractors have worked diligently to reach this point, and we look forward to delivering these new apartments and retail space to the Silver Spring area."

An amenity-rich community, Thayer & Spring will include a lounge, cyber cafe, fitness center, rooftop pool, and several green spaces plus 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. It is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification; the community features water-efficient landscaping and low-flow fixtures to reduce water use, uses recycled building materials, and will divert 75 percent of all construction waste.

Walking distance from the Silver Spring Metro station, Thayer & Spring is a transit-oriented community offering easy access to the greater Washington, D.C. area.
