Clark Builders Group Breaks Ground on Transit-Oriented Kennedy Row Apartments in Southeastern Washington, DC

Progress Underway to Replace Outdated Apartment Complex with New Luxury Community
November 21, 2011

WASHINGTON — Clark Builders Group (CBG) began construction today on 142 upscale apartments designed to enhance the rapidly improving urban landscape in Southeast Washington, DC near the Stadium-Armory metro stop. CBG was chosen as the project's general contractor by a development team comprised of Tritec Development Group, JBG, and the Merion Group. Kennedy Row is intended to mesh with the area's existing architectural style and will feature a facade of masonry and cementitious siding. The community will boast amenities like a rooftop lounge with spectacular views of the Capitol building and downtown DC.

"Our development team is proud to call Clark Builders Group its partner on Kennedy Row," expressed C. Ryan Bensten, principal at the Merion Group. "CBG has been a phenomenal general contractor and has been intricately involved from the beginning of the design. CBG has shown great interest from its executives all the way to its site superintendents. We feel we are in great hands with the team assembled to build our Kennedy Row Project."

Conceived in close coordination with the surrounding neighborhood, the Kennedy Row Apartments serve to connect the Capitol Hill Area with the developing area around RFK Stadium and the Armory Metro Station. The community encompasses a one acre site just one and a half blocks from the metro and other public transit, and is positioned directly across the street from Eastern High School, to which Kennedy Row will make a number of contributions as part of a Planned Unit Development (PUD) agreement.

"From the very beginning the Ownership group at Kennedy Row has approached this project with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and has made working on this project a real pleasure." explained Keith Anderson, president of Clark Builders Group. "The product is wonderful and will really enhance this neighborhood. We are very happy to be a part of the Kennedy Row team."

Kennedy Row will replace a dilapidated 80-unit apartment that once rested on the site, establishing the final link between two bustling corridors in downtown Washington. The apartments will begin leasing in March 2013 and are scheduled for completion in April 2013.
