Clark Builders Group Advances Neighborhood Revival with Completion of Solaire Wheaton
WHEATON, Md.—Earlier this week, Clark Builders Group (CBG) completed Solaire Wheaton, a 232-unit, LEED Silver certified, luxury apartment community that is part of an eight-acre revitalization project led by Montgomery County. Located just steps from the Wheaton Metro station, the six-story complex was completed for the Maryland-based Washington Property Company (WPC) and marks a significant advance in the regrowth of this dynamic neighborhood.

Designed by The Preston Partnership, an Atlanta-based architecture and interior design firm, Solaire Wheaton offers alcove studios, one-, and two-bedroom units, outfitted with modern luxury features including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, wood flooring, large windows, and private balconies.
The project boasts over 7,000 square feet of amenity space including a resort-style swimming pool with an accompanying deck and grilling area, a landscaped courtyard, a fitness center, and a Wi-Fi Cafe. In addition, the complex includes a spacious residents' lounge available for private functions that features a video gaming area, demonstration kitchen, indoor-outdoor fireplace, outdoor seating, flat-screen TV, and a variety of games.
"The opening of Solaire Wheaton is a milestone in the ongoing revitalization occurring in downtown Wheaton," said Evan Feldman, WPC's associate vice president of development and acquisitions. "With more than 1,000 new apartments, [and] the new Safeway and Costco [nearby]...Wheaton is emerging as a dynamic 24-7 urban environment where people can live, work, and play."
With residents as diverse as its restaurants and independent businesses, Wheaton aims to preserve the community's eclectic nature while simultaneously supporting advances in urban development that are critical to the area's continued economic growth. Numerous development projects including Solaire Wheaton have aided in this mission by contributing over 1000 new residential units over the past decade.
Conveniently located adjacent to the Wheaton Metro station and within walking distance of the Westfield Wheaton Mall, Solaire Wheaton offers residents the flexibility and convenience of such urban living at significantly lower rent than DC proper.
The project is also surrounded by a varied array of ethnic restaurants, nightlife venues, and cultural amenities that contribute to Wheaton's dynamic character. "We are happy to partner with Washington Property Company to build Solaire Wheaton, a great addition to the Montgomery County market," said Keith Anderson, president of Clark Builders Group. "This building has such a prominent location in Wheaton and we are very proud of the overall design and the finished product. It is a great addition to the neighborhood."
Solaire Wheaton achieved LEED Silver certification through its promotion of a green lifestyle in both design and function. The project was built to maximize interior natural light, while the sun-reflecting white roof minimizes building heat. CBG also installed energy-efficient lighting and appliances, and water-efficient plumbing fixtures throughout. Solaire Wheaton encourages resident participation in this dedication to an environmentally friendly facility with its smoke-free policy, onsite recycling center, and preferred parking spaces for low-emitting and fuel-efficient cars.
