City of Manassas Park and Clark Realty Celebrate Park Center Groundbreaking

MANASSAS PARK, Va. — The City of Manassas Park, working in partnership with Clark Realty, broke ground today on the new "Park Center" project, which will create a mixed-use development that will form the core of a new downtown area. Located adjacent to the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) station, the Park Center site will include both commercial and residential developments and will serve as a central destination and gathering place for residents.

"As we approach this monumental event for Manassas Park, we commend Clark Realty for making a town center for our city into a reality," said Mayor Frank Jones. "We expect the Park Center project to set the standard for future expansion of our community."

Mayor Jones, city and state officials, business leaders, and members of the community ushered in a new era for Manassas Park at the ceremony. A "Bring Your Own Shovel" event encouraged members of the community to take part in the beginning of the new development.

"Our goal is to create an authentic pedestrian-friendly experience similar to Old Town Alexandria." said Bereket Selassie, development executive for Clark Realty Capital. "We are very excited to be a part of this partnership with the City of Manassas Park and look forward to the growth that will result from such a vital development."

Park Center will include 45,000 square feet of retail, 274 residential units, and 25,000 square feet of flexible retail/residential space. The first phase of construction is scheduled for completion in Fall 2008.

When finished, the building designs will incorporate modern styles that remain consistent with a town center image. The facades will combine varying architectural materials and elements to create an urban feel. Park Center will offer residents a vibrant new setting in which to dine, shop, and live - all within easy reach of Washington, D.C.
