Part of the master plan to develop the Buzzard Point neighborhood of Washington, DC, River Point is a block-long community with 485 units and 70,441 square feet of ground-floor retail. A renovation of existing U.S. Coast Guard buildings, the project removed the second story to raise the building out of the 100-year floodplain. River Point will feature a two-story below-grade garage with 372 parking spaces and 151 bicycle spaces. Nearby attractions include Audi Field and National War College as well as upcoming waterfront establishments as part of the master development plan. This pedestrian-friendly community will activate the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and nearby restaurants and retail.
Designed to recycle and reuse efficiently, River Point targets LEED® Gold certification. The community will be constructed to include a solar-paneled roof, a plumbing system with 20 percent water usage reduction, water-saving toilets, energy efficient lighting fixtures, and EnergyStar® appliances. River Point also promotes sustainable transportation given its walking distance to nearby businesses and attractions, electric charging stations, and bike storage facilities.
