A partnership with the Department of the Air Force encompassing 1,115 homes, Joint Base Andrews features 201 new residential units, 162 renovated residential units, and one historic renovation. The new housing design called for upgraded amenities, spacious floor plans, and special features, such as increased storage space, designed specifically for Air Force families. A number of new neighborhood amenities, such as tot lots, picnic areas, a pool, and neighborhood centers, were built to increase camaraderie and foster interaction between neighbors.
Building Green at Liberty Park at Joint Base Andrews
During construction of Liberty Park, the project team recycled concrete from demolition for re-use in road sub grade and mass fills, recycled construction waste, designed all new units to meet or exceed EnergyStar® standards, and installed high-efficiency furnaces and water heaters. In addition, the historic renovation of Belle Chance involved the installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system.
