The U.S. Army, Fort Benning, and Clark Realty Capital worked together to plan, develop, construct, and manage military family housing communities for Fort Benning and Camp Frank D. Merrill, Georgia. The initial development plan, which spanned ten years, included the demolition and replacement of 1,683 homes and the refurbishment of 2,316 existing homes, of which 500 are historically significant, at Fort Benning.
At the time of construction, CRC and CBG qualified the most Energy Star home in Georgia with the Fort Benning project. During the project, CRC and CBG also piloted a project to design and build sustainable features into a previously designed home at Fort Benning, Georgia, named Casa Verde. By instituting energy-efficient features such as dual-flush toilets, low-flow aerators on faucets, insulation, Energy Star thermostats, and recycled building materials, Casa Verde was award LEED® Silver for Homes, a first for a CBG single-family home.
