CBG Begins University of California Student Housing Work
Notice to Proceed Received on 34-Acre, Nine-Building Project
For immediate release
December 13, 2018
"CBG was an integral part of the team from project concept through ground breaking," said Derek Veerkamp, development manager at The Michaels Organization. "Working shoulder to shoulder with us through the entire design and financial closing ensured both were successful. Their professionalism and expertise directly resulted in this one-of-a-kind project starting."
CBG will deliver the project's first 1,000 beds in time for the start of UC Davis' 2020 school year. West Village is comprised of nine four-story buildings across 34 acres, as well as indoor and outdoor recreational and common spaces including a 10,000-square-foot community center housing a gym, common area, and student support services. The community will feature apartment-style units with private kitchens and baths. It is located within close proximity to local conveniences, restaurants, and Highway 113.
"We are proud to be a part of this large-scale project for UC Davis," said Michael Holk, senior vice president at CBG. "Our student housing expertise and experience put us in a great position to execute this project and deliver a high-quality addition to the university."
CBG's national student housing experience includes communities at the University of Kansas, George Washington University, the University of Maryland, the University of Virginia, and more. CBG and its family of companies has a storied history of working with The Michaels Organization, the parent organization for developer University Student Living.
