CBG Building Company Reaches Milestone on Mixed-Use Community in San Jose

The Pierce will bring 232 market-rate rental apartments and 4,300 square feet of ground floor retail to San Jose's low-density, residential South of First (SoFa) neighborhood at the downtown's southern gateway. The seven-story community, which features two levels of secured garage parking, will feature resident amenities that include a fitness and recreation center, pool, and private rooftop deck with landscaped courtyard.
The sustainably designed community will feature low water use plumbing fixtures, continuous fresh air with advanced filtration, energy-efficient equipment, an enhanced building envelope, increased air sealing between units, EnergyStar® appliances, low-emitting interior finishes, low energy use lighting, and native low water use landscaping. Covered, secure bicycle storage with a bike repair facility will also be available to residents.
"The Pierce will soon become a landmark to San Jose's downtown skyline. Its proximity to highway 280 will mark the southern edge of downtown," said Jeff Smith, senior vice president with Sares Regis Group. "Its contemporary architecture and an art installation that includes a cloud of lights spilling over the roof line will create quite a buzz."
The Pierce will bring momentum to the emerging arts district and satisfy growing demand for transit-oriented, urban living in the area by transforming four parcels of land formerly consisting of parking lots and small commercial buildings. Accessible by light rail, the community will target urban, technology professionals in downtown San Jose and adjacent Silicon Valley.
